The Australian star shot to fame when he starred in James Cameron’s sci-fi epic Avatar. He loved working with the legendary filmmaker because he isn’t afraid to tell actors exactly what he thinks of their performances.

“I’m not a puppet, I’m not a pawn,” Sam explained to Total Film magazine. “I’m there to facilitate their vision and if they’re painting a picture I’ll give them as many colours as possible but if they don’t realise it’s about collaboration we’re gonna end up with the colour of sh*t.

“Filmmaking has to be like that in my book. You need a good captain otherwise the ship’s not going anywhere. I don’t want to feel like I’m wasting my time.”

Sam is currently putting the finishing touches on Clash of the Titans, which also stars Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson. It is due for release later this year.  [Source]
